How Digital Credentials Could Work
The process builds on the University's existing academic verification responsibilities while giving students a portable credential they can share.
A five-step credential process

Certificate completed
The student satisfies all curriculum and institutional requirements for the certificate.

Completion verified
The Registrar confirms the award against the University's authorized academic systems.

Credential issued
An approved staff member selects the certificate and creates a unique credential record.

Student notified
The student receives an email containing the badge, credential ID and verification link.

Credential shared
The student adds the badge to LinkedIn or a personal website, where others can verify it.

What production would require
A live implementation would need authenticated staff access, a secure integration with authorized academic records, server-side credential storage, email delivery, privacy review, audit logging and processes for corrections or revocation.
